Together, We’re Driving a Health Research Agenda for Patients, People and Prosperity

On Monday, June 1st at MaRS Discovery District, the Council of Academic Hospitals was pleased to launch A Health Research Agenda for Patients, People and Prosperity and the Healthier, Wealthier, Smarter campaign. With over 300 delegates participating in person and online at #onHWS, we were thrilled by the momentum that was generated and is continuing in the virtual world.

The Healthier, Wealthier, Smarter campaign is about bringing together the many voices of health care—governments, researchers, industry, funders, universities, hospitals, patients, caregivers and other visionaries—to break down silos and develop a shared vision for health research in Ontario. The June 1st conference set the tone for the kind of collaborative conversations we want to cultivate over the coming year. We want to thank all of our speakers and participants for sharing your ideas and experiences.

To underpin the dialogue, we invite you to review our newest policy platform, A Health Research Agenda for Patients, People and Prosperity. This platform provides concrete facts to exemplify how Ontario’s 24 research hospitals actively contribute to a healthier, wealthier, smarter province, and calls for meaningful partnerships to strengthen our position as a global health leader.

We also encourage you to visit our website, www.healthierwealthiersmarter.ca, and join the discussion online at #onHWS. Share research and patient stories, and learn more about how health research in Ontario is driving improved health care, at lower costs, fuelling a knowledge-based economy, and creating an environment to attract and retain the brightest minds to work in our province.
