Julia Hanigsberg HeadshotJulia Hanigsberg joined Toronto’s Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital as its President and CEO on January 12, 2015.

Holland Bloorview is Canada’s largest paediatric rehabilitation hospital serving children and youth with disabilities and complex medical needs. It’s vision is the most meaningful and health futures for all children, youth and families. A top 40 Canadian research hospital, it is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. Holland Bloorview is renowned for its expertise in partnering with clients and families to provide exceptional care and is the only hospital to ever achieve 100% in two successive quality surveys by Accreditation Canada. Prior to joining Holland Bloorview Julia spent 9 years at Ryerson University, first as the University’s inaugural General Counsel and Secretary of the Board of Governors and then as Vice-President, Administration and Finance. In Julia’s early career she held various positions in the Government of Ontario including Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General, Counsel and Special Advisor to two Secretaries of Cabinet and Chief of Staff to the Attorney General.

Julia has law degrees from McGill University and the Columbia Law School, where she held Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and Fulbright Fellowships. She clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada where she met her husband, Lorne Sossin. Together they have three children.
